Enhancing general awareness and values among children in low-income schools
We are a non-profit NGO focused on improving general awareness levels in low-income schools in India. We prepare in-house animated video content in conjunction with teachers and we distribute this content to schools.
By exposing children to role models, stories, and a world beyond their neigbourhood, we try to inspire them to pursue their own unique dreams. By embedding values in stories, we help them become better citizens.
wHAT WE DO
VideosForKnowledge (VFK) creates brief, animated videos to build general awareness of role models and values essential for success. We use the 7 values proposed by KIPP and Dr. Angela Duckworth.
In a 5 minute video on Milkha Singh, students learn about the Olympics, Partition and how his grit (KIPP value) motivated him to continue until he reached his goal.
By learning about 25 such personalities, students are exposed to a world beyond their community and values required to be successful.
WHAT HAVE WE ACHIEVED
More than 3000 students in 75 low-income classrooms benefited from the VFK Values Curriculum. Here are a few stories of impact.

I firstly want to thank you for letting me be part of this amazing program. My classroom basically transformed. The videos directly resulted in them showing the values learnt in every possible occasion. Words like Grit and Self control, Malala and Milkha Singh are more common than hello and thank you.
Siddharth Chellappa, Teach For India Bangalore Fellow
"Thanks for providing our kids a wonderful opportunity on both exposure and values. It would have been an impossible task for one person to collect so much information about these great personalities and integrating them with the values would be a herculean task. My congratulations to VFK for such a brilliant idea. "
